Removal and engine installation

For performance of procedures of removal and installation of the engine the reliable elevating equipment with the confided rigging is required.

Removal

The general view of the engine and the scheme of placement on it of auxiliaries and units are presented on accompanying illustrations.





 

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Lift a cowl and take care of reliable protection of body panels of a front of the car.
  2. Lead round a marker of a loop of a cowl for the purpose of simplification of the subsequent installation. Disconnect from a cowl a hose of supply of liquid of washing of a windscreen.
  3. Give fixing bolts and by means of the assistant remove a cowl from the car.
  4. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.
  5. Empty system of cooling and remove from the car of assembly of a radiator and the fan (see. Head of System of cooling, heating and air conditioning).
  6. Remove an air purifier and an air inlet sleeve (see. Head of the Power supply system and production of the fulfilled gases).
  7. Weaken collars of fastening of hoses of giving and fuel return to a gasoline pump. Disconnect hoses. To Zakuporta the open ends of hoses in order to avoid hit in a dirt power supply system.
  8. Disconnect heating hoses from branch pipes on a partition of an impellent compartment, - try not to damage the last casually. In case of need cut hoses for simplification of procedure of their removal.
  9. Weaken nuts of fastening of a cable of a drive of a butterfly valve on the arm, turn of the lever transfer a zaslonka to completely open situation and take the cable end from the holder. Clean a cable aside, having laid it so that it did not disturb further work.
  10. Disconnect from the inlet pipeline vacuum hoses of the amplifier of brakes and the coupling servo-driver.
  11. Disconnect the main wire of a food of a starter and disunite the electric socket of the traction relay.
  12. Disconnect the plug of the main wire of the generator, disunite the electric socket of the generator. Give a fastening nut on the generator of a wire of grounding.
  13. Disunite the electric socket of a control lamp of pressure of oil located under the inlet pipeline and the measuring instrument sensor.
  14. Disunite the electric socket on the carburetor and disconnect electroconducting of the temperature sensor. Take an electroconducting plait from under the inlet pipeline and lay it away from a working zone.
  15. Give a bolt and disconnect a grounding wire from an arm of a directing tube щупа measurements of level of impellent oil.

If the plait of electroconducting of transmission is laid between measuring shchupy and the block of cylinders, it should be shifted on opposite from щупа the party in order to avoid gearing during engine extraction.

  1. On the models equipped with the conditioner of air, disconnect vacuum hoses of the stabilizer of turns of idling from a damper of a butterfly valve and the inlet pipeline.
  2. In the left part of an impellent compartment disconnect grounding wires from an elevating eye of the power unit and an arm of the coil of ignition.
  3. Disunite the electric socket of the distributor and the socket of electroconducting of the coupling of coupling of the compressor of the conditioner of air (if that enters into a complete set).
  4. Disconnect hoses of a coal adsorber from steel tubes on the engine.
  5. Establish drain capacity under the steering pump, weaken a collar of fastening of a returnable hose, disconnect a hose and merge hydraulic liquid of system of strengthening of a wheel. Give a hollow bolt on the pump, - try not to lose copper sealing washers.
  6. Tie up hoses of system of hydrostrengthening of a wheel away from a working zone, having wound them pure неворсящейся with rags in order to avoid hit in dirt system.
  7. To Poddomkratta a car front also establish it on props.
  8. Give bolts and release plastic screw clips of fastening of protection of a case. Remove protection.
  9. On the models equipped with the conditioner of air:
    1. Weaken a lock-nut of a tension roller and, rotating a screw-driver an adjusting bolt, remove a driving belt from a compressor pulley.
    2. Give the bottom bolts and nuts of fastening of the compressor.
    3. Turn out the top fixing bolts, lift the compressor and fix it on a mudguard of the left wing.

Do not weaken fastening of lines of a high pressure of the compressor in order to avoid damage of traumas and frostbites as a result of direct contact to a coolant. Besides, loss of a coolant will result in need of a recharge of system.

  1. Give nuts of fastening of a flange of a reception pipe of system of production of the fulfilled gases to a final collector, отстыкуйте a reception pipe, without changing its situation on the car.
  2. Give fixture of a dome of coupling to an engine plate. Turn out bolts of fastening of intensifying arms, remove arms from the engine.
  3. Give fixing bolts and remove from the engine a starter, - probably it is necessary to overcome some resistance connected about need of destruction of a layer of hermetic.
  4. On models from AT give fixing bolts and remove a plate of a cover of the converter of rotation. By means of the suitable lever, turn the engine for a driving disk so that access to one of bolts of fastening of the converter opened. Having turned out a bolt repeat procedure for the remained fixture. Wring out the rotation converter towards transmission.
  5. Hang out the engine by means of the suitable elevating equipment, having removed weight of the power unit from the support.
  6. Give nuts of fastening of support of the engine to the block of cylinders and bolts of fastening of support to the chassis.
  7. Slightly raise the engine and remove support. Lower the engine on the chassis for simplification of access to the top bolts of fastening of a dome of coupling.
  8. Give the top bolts of fastening of a dome of coupling to the engine.
  9. By means of a thin knife or other suitable tool cut a hermetic layer on perimeter of a dome of coupling, - try not to damage thus interfaced surfaces.
  10. Carefully lift assembly of the engine and advance it forward on the car. On models from RKPP track, that primary shaft of a transmission freely left coupling assembly. On models from AT take care of that the converter of rotation did not drop out of the case.
  11. With extreme care, trying not to damage fragile components, take engine assembly from the car. In case of existence of the slightest uncertainty it is meaningful to waste time on preliminary removal of knots creating a hindrance.

Installation

Installation is generally made upside-down.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Take care of careful cleaning of interfaced surfaces of a dome of coupling and the engine. On a flange of a dome impose a hermetic pillow.

Tightness of landing of a back plate on the engine is also extremely important, as prevents leakage of water in a coupling dome.

  1. On models from RKPP do not forget to center by means of the special tool a conducted disk of coupling on a flywheel, after it tighten basket fixture (see. Head Coupling).
  2. Before establishing forward support of the power unit screw the top bolts of fastening to the engine of a dome of coupling.
  3. Having transferred engine weight to support, tighten bolts and nuts of their fastening on the chassis and the engine.
  4. Fill in in the engine necessary amount of oil of a demanded grade. Fill cooling system (see. Head of System of cooling, heating and air conditioning).
  5. Connect a reception pipe of system of production of the fulfilled gases to a final collector, having established new laying.
  6. Grease with hermetic a landing flange of a starter and establish a starter on the place.
  7. Adjust a cable of a drive of a butterfly valve (see. Head of the Power supply system and production of the fulfilled gases).
  8. Before primary start of the engine check correctness of all settings and adjustment of a tension of driving belts.
  9. After start track temperature of the engine and pressure of oil. Check the engine on leaks, in case of identification of those eliminate their reasons.

Models of 4.2 l of late years of the release, equipped with system of injection of fuel (EFI)

Procedures of removal and installation of engines of 4.2 l equipped with EFI system generally are identical to that for carburetor engines, except for listed below the moments.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Before disconnecting the battery it is necessary to dump pressure in a power supply system, for what:
    1. Give screws and lift the panel of the relay located in the neighbourhood with the battery located in an impellent compartment. Uncover and take a safety lock of the fuel pump on 15 And;
    2. Start the engine and let's to it work on single turns to spontaneous останова. For a guarantee of completeness of dumping of pressure include for 10 seconds a starter;
    3. Switch off ignition.
  2. Remove an air line and the exhaust silencer established between the case of a throttle and a measuring instrument of an air stream.
  3. Instead of a detachment of fuel hoses from a gasoline pump weaken collars and disconnect a returnable gasoline pipe line from a regulator of pressure of fuel, and a hose of supply of fuel - from the fuel highway.
  4. Except the generator disconnect electroconducting also from the air regulator located under the right forward corner of the inlet pipeline. Disconnect the main tire of grounding from an arm in a forward part of the inlet pipeline, and also a grounding wire from a pipeline wall.
  5. Instead of an electroconducting detachment from the carburetor and the temperature sensor disunite three electric sockets, located on an arm in a forward part of the inlet pipeline.
  6. Pass procedure of a detachment of vacuum hoses of the device of stabilization of turns of idling of the models equipped with the conditioner of air.

Remember that before a detachment of all wires and their hoses it is necessary to mark surely.

  1. Installation make upside-down, taking into account the next moments:
    1. Track, that any wires, cables and hoses did not appear are clamped in process of installation of the unit.
    1. When filling system of cooling pay attention to existence of a stopper of production of the air, the delivery chamber of an air path located in a forward part as well as on models with the engine of 3.0 l (see an accompanying illustration).
    1. Radiator installation on engines of 4.2 l of EFI is made as well as on engines of 3.0 l.
