Transmission and transfer case

Difficulties take place at gear shifting

In a transmission transmission oil not that grade. Replace oil on corresponding to technical requirements (see size tables and adjustments at the end of the Management).

The gear shifting mechanism is worn-out. On models of 4.2 l dismantle the top cover and replace defective components. On models of 3.0 l disassemble transmission assembly for repair performance.

The synchronization mechanism is faulty. Execute major maintenance of transmission. Check a condition of frictional surfaces of blocking rings and cones on existence of signs of wear and damages (see an accompanying illustration).

Teeth of an asterisk of the synchronizer of an all-wheel drive mode is worn-out or damaged.

Difficulties at inclusion of an all-wheel drive mode can appear also connected with distinction at a rate of tires of lobbies and back wheels of the car. Track correctness of selection of wheels.

Driveshafts

Driveshaft balancing is broken. Check existence on a shaft of balancing cargoes. In case of need execute shaft balancing.

There was a mutual rassovmeshcheniye of forward and back kardanny hinges of a shaft. Disconnect from a shaft a sliding joint and level hinges.

Shlitsa of a sliding joint of the driveshaft are worn-out. Replace a shaft assembled.

By means of manual manipulations check kardanny hinges and sliding joints on existence of signs of wear (see an accompanying illustration).
If excessive palpation of the driveshaft takes place, give fixture and turn a shaft on a half of turn. Again tighten fixture and repeat palpation check. In case of need replace a shaft.

Takes place excessive radial люфт the driveshaft

Weakened bolts/nuts of fastening of the driveshaft. Replace fixture, having tightened it with demanded effort. Surely track reliability of a tightening of fixture (see an accompanying illustration).

Kardanny hinges are worn-out. Check degree of wear of hinges, manipulating them manually. In case of need make replacement.

Shlitsa of a sliding joint of the driveshaft are worn-out. Check (by manual manipulations), in case of need replace a shaft assembled.
